About Me

I was born February 21, 1996. My hobbies are playing sports, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, running and muddin. I am in NJROTC. My goals are to get into NC State then join the Navy and become a nurse. If that doesn't work, or if I find out I dont like it, then I will be a Middle School P.E. Teacher. Being active is a major part of my life and the Teacher Cadet Program has made me come to realize how much I like working with little kids.

How Have I Learned From My Overall Experience?

I have learned so much. I didn't realize how much teachers actually do and how much work it all is. This experience has made me want to become a teacher, not as my real career but minor at it in college. It has made think of my teachers differently now since I have a lot better understanding of what they go through on a daily basis. I used to think all teachers did was just stand up teach give and grade tests and that's it, didn't think they did anything more till now.
How Do Classroom Management Philosophies and Techniques Influence How Teachers Resolve Classroom Discipline Issues?

From what I've seen, each teacher handles discipline differently. The teachers that have kids treat their students just like they would their own kids at home. I have looked at my own teachers and see how they handle discipline. Usually the discipline I have to do is just say they need to keep it down. That's about it.
What Are Some Signs of a Good Day in Class? What Things Happen in Your Opinion to Constitute a Good Day in the Classroom? What Are Some Signs of a Bad Day in a Class, and What Do They Look Like?

Everyday here is good. I haven't had a bad day. I don't know what it would be like to have a bad day, I've been blessed both semesters with good days everyday. My students mind very well, at least most of them do. If I have had a really good day in the classroom then that will be all I talk about at school and I'll tell my parents and friends all about it. My students are the reason I get up in the morning. Good things that happen are when I leave my kids say Miss Ellis don't leave us, please don't go and some will come and try to give me hugs.

           Ideal Classroom

My ideal classroom. I would have to say that in my ideal classroom, the students would love the subject as much as I do. They would come to school everyday with the best attitudes. When something difficult happens, they wouldn't quit, they would keep trying until they got it. The students would make all A's and would grasp the new lesson with no problems. But that's not going to happen and I'm glad of it. If that was really how classrooms were, I would quit. I want a challenge. I don't want perfection in the classroom because then teaching would be boring. I will admit it would be a lot less stressful but it wouldn't be the same. We, my students and I, wouldn't be able to grow any. I just want my kids to try everyday when they come in. That's all I want in my ideal classroom.
Things That Contribute to Me Continuing to Want to Go in to the Teaching Profession

Getting to teach them and be with them everyday is the reason I get up and come to school. When I don't come, they hound me the next day as to why I wasn't there. When I told them last semester that I might not be back they got sad and all gave me hugs. They just seem to be so happy when I come and sad when I leave and I really love that. They make my day everyday. By them acting like that, it makes me want to become a p.e. teacher.
Contributing to the Students Understanding of Topics Within the Classroom, and How They Respond to Younger Adults.

They seem to respond good to younger adults. Since we are close in age, they relate to me more than they do with the teacher. If she can't explain something fully, then I'll explain it and they'll get it. I think that they look to me more because in a way I'm a kid just like them. When the teacher is teaching, I'll help the kids understand it if they have questions.
Differentiation in the Classroom.

In my two classes there is some differentiation. Some of the kids only talk to certain kids. For example, the athletic kids talk to the other athletic kids. The smart ones only talk to the smart ones. They don't talk to any other than those of the same as them. The kids all learn about the same, but some of them just don't care to do anything.

“To Reduce Suicide Rates, New Focus Turns To Guns.”
NY Times
Feb. 13, 2013
Who: Youth of America
What: Trying to reduce suicide in the U.S.
Where: Dayton, Wyoming
When: Winter
How: Trying to stop / lower the suicide rate by teenagers in the U.S. Craig Reichert came home one day and found his son dead on the floor. There was a pistol lying under his knee. He called 911 but it was too late, his son was already ice cold. Guns were a big part of Kameron’s (the son) family. They are tradition and carry many memories. His parents were very upset to find out that he used a gun to kill himself. The deaths by which people kill themselves with guns are much higher than any other. In 2010, 20,000 of the 30,000 deaths by guns were suicides. The suicide rate in America has increased by 12% since 2003. Suicide is now the 3rd major cause of death for America’s teenagers. 85% of suicidal acts with guns are fatal. Temporary acts of rage or despair cause people to try to commit suicide. It doesn’t even work most of the time.  Wyoming, Montana and Alaska are the three states with the highest suicide rates. They are also the states that own the most guns. Some health officials are trying to talk families into keeping their guns put up or locked away so teenagers and troubled relatives can’t get to them. It’s not working very well because of the national gun control. That’s making gun owners against it. In Missouri, Wyoming and North Carolina, the health departments are handing out gun locks. In New Hampshire, some gun shops are putting up signs about keeping them away from teenagers and your loved ones. Kameron was a football player. He had no history of depression and adoring parents. Kameron also had a job after school. He would buy packs of gum so he could give it to the girls at school. If you needed a ride, he’d help you out. One night he was caught with a part of cigars by the police. They had a new colleague so he was searched and told incorrectly about his parents paying to fine. His parents punished him.
Summary: U.S. is trying to stop teenagers from committing suicide. Suicides are account for more than half of the deaths in the U.S. I think that if the officers had told Kameron correctly, he would still be alive today. Also think that the officers should be fired.

Inspiration

Inspiration is an inspiring or animating action or influence. To me inspiration is something that inspires you to do something whether its good or bad. I get my inspiration from my mom. She has been through a lot, and she just keeps on going. So if she can do it, I can do it. Also, cancer survivors are my inspiration because of what they have to face, and they keep going with a smile.
